Rebranding a College or University
Flexlume helps colleges and universities execute campus-wide signage rebrands without disrupting daily operations, academic schedules, or long-term campus plans.
Campus Rebrands Are Complex by Nature
College and university rebrands are rarely cosmetic. They are often driven by structural change, whether that is accreditation updates, institutional mergers, or a transition from college to university status.
Unlike commercial rebrands, campus environments introduce additional complexity. Properties are spread out, documentation is often outdated, and signage must balance visibility, architecture, and wayfinding rather than pure promotion.
Flexlume manages these projects with a planning-first approach. We help institutions understand what exists today, what needs to change, and how to phase a rollout that respects campus operations while delivering a cohesive, updated identity.
Campus-Focused Signage Planning
We plan signage across entrances, buildings, interior spaces, and pedestrian pathways to support navigation and institutional identity.
Permitting and Coordination
We manage approvals with municipalities and campus stakeholders, keeping projects moving even when documentation is incomplete or
Architectural Integration
Campus signage prioritizes monument signs, building signage, and directional systems that complement historic and modern architecture.
Phased Rollouts
Rebrands can be executed in stages to align with academic calendars, budgets, and construction schedules.

Campus Rebrand Success Story: D’Youville University
Flexlume led a full campus signage rebrand for D’Youville University following its transition from D’Youville College. The project began in 2022 and spanned multiple phases, ultimately delivering approximately 75 signs across the campus.
The scope included a nearly 30-foot-wide building sign, interior signage such as elevator lobby identifiers, ground-mounted directional signs, and channel letter installations. Each element was designed and installed to support the new university identity while maintaining clarity and cohesion across the campus environment.
The result was a complete, unified signage update that aligned with D’Youville’s new status and positioned the institution for long-term growth.
