Sport City Pizza Pub

Project Background

As things began to open up in January 2021 Sport City Pizza Pub owner Michael Rizzo felt that it was important to increase visibility in their revitalized neighborhood in West Buffalo.  While the Pub did already have a solid presence with building graphics and two logo signs, He felt it was important to make a greater impression on the increasing number of travelers heading up and down Niagara Street.

Key Challenges

Beyond the myriad challenges associated with the pandemic, the question arose, how to make the biggest possible impact while remaining compliant with the city's signage regulations.  Other specific challenges:

  • The building is situated fairly close to the street at a traffic intersection which combined to limit line-of-sight viewing to the signage to those sitting right in front of or aside the building.
  • The existing building is a single story situated in a neighborhood consisting largely of multi-story buildings elevating the "viewing line" for the businesses on the street.
  • Creating a sign package that was bold and impactful yet consistent with their existing brand and image.

Solution Proposed

The sign package proposed consisted of a series of roof-edge mounted custom channel letters in Sport City's chosen font, elevating the presentation of their brand 3' higher on the Niagara Street skyline.  The specific solution included:

  • (26) 3' tall illuminated aluminum channel letters with with white acrylic faces, blue trim cap and  blue returns
  • Custom aluminum raceways to accommodate the lettering along 3 separate rooflines
  • Remote controllable color changing RBG LED illumination to allow for up to 256 different colors within each sign segment, programmable to simulate animations to improve recognition of the brand.

Outcome

All of Sport City's signs were manufactured and installed on time.   As they emerged from the pandemic they've continues to grow and bring more energy to their Niagara Street neighborhood, continuing to look forward to the days of celebrations and crowds!

Testimonial

"We found Flexlume via word of mouth and looked up some previous work they had done around the city.  To compare Flexlume to a competitor is an insult.  Flexlume is in a league of their own! From the start of planning and design to the pricing and installation, first class all the way!  Even if a problem does arise, like a freak windstorm within a week, they came out within 90 minutes of our call to check, fix, and secure the signage so no more problems arise.  That's not only great customer service, but excellent pride in their work. It shows from everyone in the company, from sales reps to design team to the installation team.  Not to mention how awesome the signage turned out. Thank you Flexlume!"
